What is Maccopay?

Maccopay is a robust web platform and smartphone app enabling everyone in the cannabis industry – and anyone who deals with it – to do business electronically. The dangers, burdens and time-wasting of operating with cash are now things of the past.

Can I use Maccopay on my Android or iPhone?

Yes, in addition to using Maccopay's web platform, after downloading the app at the Google Play or Apple App Store, all users can access Maccopay services on their Android or iPhone.

  • Send Purchase Orders to your vendors and suppliers
  • Pay your vendors, suppliers, landlord, utility companies, tax authorities and more
  • Assign shipments and then track them through Google Maps and be notified—with photographic evidence– when your shipment is completed
  • Review all transactions you’ve made or that are in progress
  • Enjoy real-time integration of all your Maccopay transactions with your QuickBooks account
  • Ensure your compliance with state and federal financial regulations and guidelines
Are Maccopay accounts insured and safe?

Each Maccopay account is on-deposit at an FDIC insured financial institution, which holds a custodial account on behalf of Maccopay for your benefit.

How much does Maccopay charge for its services?

·       Maccopay charges to merchants will always be lower than credit card fees.

·         And for individual consumers and governmental agencies, it’s free.

Is the information I provide to Maccopay secure?

Yes, in addition to precautions Maccopay takes, it also employs SSL ("secure sockets layer") technology, a state-of-the-art form of security to handle sensitive information such as personal information and debit card numbers.

Is the information I provide to Maccopay private?

A: Yes and no.

Yes--as far as advertisers, third-party companies and the like are concerned. Rest assured, Maccopay keeps your information confidential--to the maximum extent legally allowable.

No--as far as the government is concerned. Under the "Cole Memo," issued by the U.S. Treasury Department in 2014, financial institutions servicing CRBs must regularly file reports of all cannabis-related transactions to its Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). They must also determine that their clients are in compliance with state law. That is why the Maccopay application requires proof that merchants are duly licensed and operating properly; and it is why merchants must fill-out "Track & Trace" information with each invoice. Of course, Maccopay is also required to disclose any information it possesses whenever subpoenaed by a government or law enforcement agency--or ordered to do so by a court of law.

Why do you require so much information for your application?

Maccopay has to comply -- and is specially designed to comply--with all state and federal laws, including:

  • Know Your Customer requirements (“KYC”)
  • Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”)
  • Anti-Money Laundering Laws (“AML”)
  • Track and Trace rules (“METRC”)
  • Suspicious Activity Reports (“SARs”)
  • Currency Transaction Reporting (“CTR”)
Once I start my application for a Maccopay account, how long will it take till approval?

That is largely a function of how quickly you complete your application, which requires a lot of information. You don’t have to do it all in one sitting, though. So long as you use the same browser, you can save whatever you complete and return to finish the application later. Once Maccopay receives your complete application, it typically takes no more than two weeks to render a decision.
